Saint Mary Magdalene (Mary of Magdala), was a woman who, according to the four canonical gospels, traveled with Jesus as one of his followers and was a witness to his crucifixion and resurrection.[1] She is mentioned by name twelve times in the canonical gospels, more than most of the apostles and more than any other woman in the gospels. The first person that discovered that Jesus tomb was empty. She was the first person to see the resurrected Jesus. Twelve apostles and Her – Apostle of the Apostles. Rehabilitated in the eyes of the world. The second most important woman in history. Chosen one.
The work opens a discussion on the priestly mission of women, the place of women in the Catholic Church and who Mary of Magdala was for Jesus. The pregnant figure is Mary Magdalene holding her symbol – roses – which has become a symbol of femininity. At the same time, we can notice that she is pregnant. This refers to the legend of the Holy Grail – Sangreal – which means holy blood, which deals with the alleged descendants of Jesus and Mary Magdalene. At the same time, it should be noted that the legacy of Mary of Magdala is the high role that Jesus predicted for women in the world. It is women who give birth to offspring that are sanctified by God. It’s time to wash away the centuries of humiliation and depriving women of their voices. The two figures behind Mary Magdalene symbolize the modernity of women in the priesthood and the male part of holiness. They stand together, guarding the safety of the apostle of apostles. In the background there is a visualization of an abandoned prison that is falling into ruin. The priestess and the priest, taking care of the symbol of femininity that is Mary Magdalene, restore women’s proper position in the church and in the world.
